30 Savannah Style - Part 2

On Saturday my precious husband woke up at 6:30 so that he could go stand in line at Paula Deen's restaurant for our lunch reservations. By the time they opened at 9 the line was around the block. I have to admit I was not so sure it would be up to the hype. I figured it was like a lot of restaurants that get fameous, the food goes down hill and the wait and prices go up. I was so wrong! It was the best southern cooking I have had since my Nanny passed away! Full of butter and fried. I most likely took a year off my life but at 30 I'm not getting any younger anyway. My mouth is watering just thinking about how good every single thing tasted. If you are ever in Savanah, get up early and get a seat.
After nearly eating ourselves into a food coma, we took a carriage ride around the city. I think this is the best way to get familiar with a new place. I am a history nerd so I really enjoy the tidbits the guides offer. As we were going around the city, I heard my name being yelled. Being so far away from home I was a little shocked. It was my 3rd grade teacher! Her daughter goes to SCAD and they were down visiting. Small world! We took off on our own after the carriage ride to get a closer look at the home and the beautiful squares. I love old architecture and they have some of the most lovely and quirky homes. Disney designed the Haunted Mansion after one and the Most Beautiful Block in America is located down town.
