Zoo Trip

Lyla and I took our first trip to the zoo yesterday! We went to the Baton Rouge zoo. It was ok, but the "big cat" exhibit is being remodeled so no tigers or lions, Lyla's favorite. I say they are her favorite because roaring/growling is the only animal noise she makes. She did it back in February for about a week. On her exersaucer there is a lion button that roars. She would hit that button and the make a similar noise. It was hilarious but she stopped after a few days. Yesterday we played zoo with all of her animals, making the noises they make and talking about them. Mike the Tiger was the last one and after I started growling she was all about it. I will try to upload the video. Hilarious.

We watched this famly of monkeys for a very long time. We both got a kick out of them. The one on the stump is just a toddler and that is his mom on the right. He was going crazy running and jumping around and chasing his brother. His mother was chasing after and in this picture she had just given him a snack. All the while the dad was sitting around with his junk hanging out, watching the show and munching on something. A strong case for evolution! ha ha.

Lyla loves to kickback in her stroller. She always manages to put her feet up. My girl likes comfort.

It is already getting pretty hot down here but this big guy was moving around a lot more than the other animals. He would give the hare a run for his money.

Lyla's First Easter

Lyla had a great first Easter. Here are some of the pictures.
These are her Easter pajamas. They looked so cute on her, especially the pants! I loved the little bunny on her bottom.


This was her pretty Easter dress that Nino and Poppy got her. It had beautiful roses embroidered on the smocking and the collar. I love her in Raspberry and White.

Lyla loved her mini eggs. Her favorite activity was shaking them out of their bag. She wouldn't stop until the last egg was out. We admired her determination. She also got pretty good at dropping them in her bucket! We had a great Easter, even though TJ had to work. We celebrated with a good meal when he got home and just enjoyed the evening together.

Bubbles

It was a little windy here in Gonzales. Of course nothing like the Panhandle, but a good enough breeze for some fun with bubbles!

Easter Pictures

Lyla and I have tried for three days to take our monthly photo card picture. There were just too many interesting things for her to check out and her new mobility made it very challenging. She spent most of the time rolling around, playing with the eggs, kicking over her basket or pulling her ears off. Her daddy and I worked with her on rolling over a lot and I caught myself missing the days when she would just lie there and let me take her picture! Here are a few of the better ones.

Six Months Already!

I can not believe our baby is six months old already. It has really flown by! Some of the nights still seem a little long (ha!) but I just can't get over how fast the past half year has gone. Lyla is rolling over like a log and has started attempting to sit up on her own. She is rocking on her hands and knees and trying to get her bottom two teeth. We have started solids and I am attempting to make her baby food from scratch. It's pretty easy so far, although we are not to meats yet! She laughs, babbles like crazy, and likes to jump. She is a pretty good natured baby unless it comes to nap time. That is still a bit of a struggle, mostly for me!
The cute woman holding Lyla is her Pediatrician, Dr. Ashli West. We LOVE her! I wish we could take her with us when we move. She is wonderful and if you live in the Baton Rouge area she is worth the trip to Prairieville.

Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival

We took Lyla to the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival on her "1/2" Birthday. It was packed but she had the best time looking around at all of the people and there were certainly some to see! We met one of TJ's co-workers and his family there. Frank acted as our tour guide and his family gave us the best chocolate dipped strawberries. I really have met some of the nicest and most friendly people here in Louisiana. They gave Lyla her first taste of Louisiana Strawberries. She made a funny face at first but then she couldn't get enough. You can't really see it too well in the pictures but she has a strawberry stain on her upper lip! Pretty adorable. She got to play her first carnival game and won a stuffed duck. She loves to grab so this was her game for sure. She was a great baby and simply crashed out on the stroll back to our car.

Spring Break in Borger

Lyla and I spent Spring Break in the hot spot of Borger! Lyla had her first plane trip and she did so well, sleeping through most of it.
We spent a lot of time with my family. Lyla got to meet her Great-Great-Great Aunt Dorothy! She is 83 years old and so funny. The weather was all over the place while we were there so we didn't get to get out as often as we would have liked. Lyla did enjoy the bubble wand her Nana got her and could not get enough of her Aunt Haylee on the Wii Fit. She would stare at her the entire time she was on the board. Lyla also really picked up rolling over. Yet she still preferred to scoot around on her back. It is so funny to watch her "head scoot" around the house. We also made a quick trip to Chattanooga to see Nino and the gang. Lyla had a lot of fun playing with Alayna this time! Aunt Teri and Nino made her some of the cutest outfits. I will have to post some pictures when she wears them! With all of the travel March flew by!
